Mr. Oliver Onyekweli is a Partner at McKinsey & Company, based in Lagos Nigeria, where he leads the firm’s West African Energy Practice. Over the past 10 years, Oliver has supported oil and gas majors, national oil companies, and independents in Nigeria and across the globe on a range of topics including operational improvement, organizational change, merger integrations and corporate strategy. He has also supported several African governments on their national energy planning initiatives. Oliver is an expert on the Nigerian oil and gas ecosystem and brings a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges that characterize the basin. He also has significant experience advisingstakeholders in Nigeria’s power sector. Prior to joining McKinsey, Oliver was an oil and gas investment banker in North America, where he focused on raising financing and advising on mergers and acquisitions for mid-cap exploration and production companies operating across Canada and the United States. During this time, Oliver was involved in over USD 5 billion in transaction advisory. Oliver holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. Oliver is also a CFA charterholder.
